چکیده
Calcifying pseudoneoplasm of the neuraxis (CAPNON) is a rare tumefactive lesion with unclear pathogenesis. It diagnosed by pathological findings typical histological features that include granular amorphous cores palisading spindle to epithelioid cells, variable fibrous stroma, foreign-body reaction giant and calcification/ossification occasionally psammoma bodies. However, its histopathology may be currently immunohistochemistry plays limited role in diagnosis understanding In this study, we examined 6 cases CAPNONs including 3 intracranial spinal epidural lesions (age range: 59–69 years; males females). Immunohistochemistry revealed all CAPNON contain abundant positive deposits neurofilament protein (NFP), which was supported electron microscopy finding filaments (8–13 nm diameter). comparison, no NFP positivity found 5 psammomatous/metaplastic meningiomas or 7 intervertebral tissue calcification/ossification. addition, cellular areas showed numbers CD8+ cytotoxic T-cells less CD4+ decreased ratio CD4/CD8+ versus without cells. Our suggest principal constituent CAPNONs, thus involved pathogenesis CAPNON. Given CD4/CD8 ratio, pathogenic process possibly immune- mediated. LEARNING OBJECTIVES The presentation will enable learner to: 1. Discuss histopathological calcifying variation non-core components. 2. Explore diagnostic roles immunohistochemical markers

Intradural calcifying pseudoneoplasm of the neuraxis presenting as a cauda equina syndrome
BACKGROUND Calcifying nonneoplastic pseudoneoplasms of the neuraxis (CAPNON) have been reported in 59 cases in literature, however, they rarely involve the spinal cord. Owing to the advances in immunohistochemical markers, their structure and origin are better understood now. CASE REPORT We present the case of a 72-year-old female who had longstanding history of low back pain that exacerbated...
متن کاملMultiple Calcifying Pseudoneoplasms of the Neuraxis
Calcified pseudoneoplasms of the neuraxis (CAPNON) are a rare diagnostic entity. They have been reported intra-cranially as well as in the spine, and are most commonly found at the skull base. This is a case report of a 38-year-old woman who presented with bilateral CAPNON, diagnosed 8 years apart. While there are approximately 46 reported in the current literature of cerebral and spinal fibro-...
